Blackburn Residence Revived

What began as a modest renovation of a 1960s weatherboard home, transformed in to a stunning family oasis, blending modern living with charming outdoor spaces, sympathetic to the original architecture.

Originally envisioned as a modest transformation of a 1960’s
weatherboard home in the Blackburn lake precinct, this project evolved into a generous family home.

The re-imagined entry with feature stone and timber, guides visitors through to a cosy sitting room with an open fire and views of the remodelled pool, alongside a home office. A wall of glass buttresses the floating feature stair, leading to a light-filled living zone, new kitchen, butler’s pantry, dining area and rumpus room which have garden views.

Wrapping around the rear and side of the house is a spacious deck framed by the feature pergola. Climbing vines offer shade for passive summer entertainment and feature lighting enhance the outdoor living.

Respecting the original architecture, the upper floor addition offers spacious areas ideal for family life, Including a parents retreat, balcony, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a third sitting space.
